I have attempted to stay clear, as much as possible, from the most obvious symbols and other objects associated with music, music performance and production.

This is a tutorial I used to practice in 3D http://www.bittbox.com/illustrator/illustrator-tutorial-how-to-make-3d-vector-vintage-stars.

12 Logos I like by Niamh Burke

This is the Coca Cola logo.  I think this works because it makes the drink look attractive.  The colour scheme is good.  The actual logo ‘Coca Cola’ has only had subtle changes over the years.  If you look at the progression from the logo from 1885 to now in 2011 there is very little change yet it still seems to work.  It is a logo that is timeless so therefore it does not really have to be changed.  This logo has tone of voice and repetition.

BT is the world’s oldest telephone company.  It started in 1846.  BT stands for British Telecommunications.  It is a nice simple logo with a splash of colour.  The size and resolution is to maintain the quality and image of the company without it being too harsh.

This logo is for the Irish festival school of music.  It is an obvious choice of logo for a music school.  It is a nice design of a treble clef and associates it immediately with music.  It maybe is a bit too similar to many music schools and departments.  I do like it I think it is nice and simple.  The design has tone of voice and gives a good representation for this Music School.
This logo is also for music.  It is good the way it says ‘addicted to music’ because it shows they are passionate about music.  The design is nice bringing two different colours and shapes.  I like the way they bring in the treble clef this associates it with music.

This logo is for a classical music.  It is for a musician and gives off a ‘classy’ vibe.  It uses tone of voice and association.

I like this logo because it brings nice bit of colour into it.  It is contemporary and shows off the main importance of this logo which is ‘Arts’.  It is for a music festival although it could be hard to make this out it still has nice colour and is not too busy.
I like this logo because it is quite simple but classy looking.  I think it is quite a timeless logo.  It has tone of voice because the use of colour and the font gives a good representation and is right for this company.

This logo inspired me because it is timeless.  It is such a simple use but works really well.  It is for one of the largest sites in the world and suits it very well.  It is nice the way it has a two tone blue colour going on and the trademark ‘F’ would make you recognise it anywhere.
This is another timeless logo.  It has been around for 30 years yet has not changed.  It works well because the name of the company is actually ‘Apple’ so it represents it.  The use of colour is good because it is like a rainbow giving off a good vibe for the company.
This logo has changed a bit over the years.  It was initially called ‘Federal Express’, but changed to ‘FedEx’ to shorten the name and I think it works really well.  It has a good use of colour making it right for this company.
This logo works well because it works in both black and white and colour.  The tick sends out the right message because a tick is usually positive.  It has repetition.  This sign is known everywhere for Nike and it is also quite timeless.

This logo is used to give off a good image and I think it does that.  It is unique and can be recognised anywhere.
